Thlaspi kovatsii Heuffel

Flora Europaea

A perennial species of the genus, which becomes rarer and rarer despite the rather numerous localities indicated in the XIXth century. Its pattern of dissapearance resembles the ones of other species like Pulsatilla patens and of the butterfly Colias myrmidone. The very rare populations remained are in fact composed of small groups of individuals in meadow-steppe grasslands and on rocks from calcareous low altitude mountains. However recently was reported as a frequent species in Moldavia. Its precise relationship with Thlaspi dacicum is still unknown.

North of Cluj-Napoca, Fanatele Clujului area, Cluj county, 22nd of April 2011, in a patch of meadow-steppe grassland which survived the aggressive urbanization of the zone in the last years. A case which needs desperate measures of conservation since the terrain there is quite good for constructions. Its position is 46 49 15.0 N / 23 37 43.3 E.
